Contemporary Fine Violin Exhibition in Kota Kinabalu

String players often struggle with these questions... 'How do I choose which instrument to buy?', 'How do I know if my instrument is really handmade as claimed by the seller?', 'How do I know if an instrument is hand crafted, workshop made, or mass produced?' YES! There are loads of string instruments out there and whether they are personally hand crafted by master luthiers, or hand made in a workshop of violin makers, or factory produced in vast amount... does show a difference and we are here to show you HOW? WHY? WHERE? WHEN? WHAT?

Mr Tan Ching Seng of Deciso Violin Gallery, is Malaysia's very own fine violin maker and he has been crafting beautiful violins of his own. His extensive knowledge on string instruments has answered many of these puzzling questions. Do come, meet up, and chat with him this coming exhibition, catered specially for string players and music enthusiast who would like to learn more about string instruments. Entrance is FREE this 28th June 2015 from 10am to 8pm at Wawasan Room, Eminent Hotel, Kepayan Point.

We are also privileged to be hosting Maestro Liutaio Bertrand Yves Delisle! Read all about him and his works by clicking on the link included here. You are most welcome to meet Maestro Bertrand during this exhibition. He will be conducting 2 violin making workshops, at 2pm and at 5pm. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” We are now giving you an opportunity to get involved in learning about the process of violin making! You don't have to be a violin maker after attending this workshop. But if you are inspired to, as Mr Tan did many years ago, why not? However, the main point is, you can get to know the making of a violin since the very first slab of maple and spruce. Do come and find out more!

Lastly, not forgetting that this is a sales exhibition! YES! We have string instruments that you may purchase! See you there!

You may click on the poster for a larger view. Thank you!

Maestro Manuele Civa visits Kota Kinabalu

28th April 2015. For the first time in history, Kota Kinabalu welcomes an Italian master violin maker to showcase his exquisite quartet of instruments, the Civa Quartet. We are most privileged to witness these beautifully hand crafted instruments of Maestro Manuele Civa all the way from Cremona, Italy.

A very special thank you to Mr Tan Chin Seng of Deciso Violin Gallery for making this possible! Mr Tan, Malaysia's fine violin maker, has been crafting beautiful violins of his own. His passion towards the art of violin making has brought many master luthiers' hand crafted instruments from around the world to Malaysia. These exquisite instruments of course can be made available for serious musicians who are interested to view by appointment only. Do contact Camerata Music School for more information and to make arrangements to view these instruments in KK.

Not forgetting KK's very own string quartet, Mondays, as our invited guest musician to showcase the Civa Quartet for the first time ever! Maestro Manuele Civa's Quartet has never yet been performed on before, making Mondays the first in the world! It was indeed a pleasant evening at Sky Lounge, Sky Hotel, where students, parents, teachers, and fellow music enthusiast gathered together for an evening of music and art.

Besides the Civa Quartet, another violin of Maestro Civa was also on display that evening. A beautiful decorated violin named "Hellier". Mr Tan also had two of his violins on display, and a viola from Maestro Stefano Conia Junior named "il Giovane".

Deciso Visits KK's Local International School

This is one way overdue post! That busy person is finally able to steal some time during term break for some updates. So... here you go!

Mr Tan of Deciso Violin Gallery visited Kinabalu International School on 30th October 2014 and conducted some violin workshops for the Primary students there. It was definitely a great opportunity for students to know what violin making is all about, and they also got a chance to try out how some violin making equipments work. A big thank you to Mr Tan for making this rare occasion possible!

Yes we have fine violins! But who is going to play on them? Not forgetting our local music talent, Mondays String Quartet, showcasing the fine violin collections of Mr Tan during their performance for the Secondary students at KIS.

Second Deciso Exhibition at Camerata Music School

Deciso Violin Gallery visited us at Camerata Music School for the second time on Monday, 5th August 2013. During the first exhibition in May 2013, 5 violins were displayed. This time around for the second exhibition, 8 violins and 1 viola were displayed.

We are very pleased to see that more musicians are now coming to realize the importance of owning a good, top quality instrument... just as Deciso's tagline says: Serious violins, crafted by serious luthiers, for serious musicians. We are also proud to announce that Camerata Music School is now the sole agent for Deciso Violin Gallery here in Sabah and the only outlet that offers authentic contemporary European violins made by master makers. Please do follow our blog for more updates in the near future regarding more violin exhibitions!

Here is a compilation of some violins featured during the exhibition.
Professionally photographed pictures of Deciso's instruments can be found on their Facebook albums page. You may also visit their homepage at http://www.deciso.my.

Do not hesitate to contact us (Chris Oh 010 977 7719) for further enquiries and to make appointment to view master makers violins from Deciso Violin Gallery. Thank you!
