Christopher Oh - Violin and Viola teacher

Christopher started his formal violin training at the age of 5 under Brian Tan Wee Thean, and later on Lim Soon Oo when Brian Tan went on to further his studies in England. When he was 14, he received his first viola from Lim Soon Oo and then continued playing both violin and viola under Brian Tan before leaving for KL to study viola under both Mustafa Fuzer Nawi and Veronika Thoene of the National Symphony Orchestra.

Christopher has formerly held post in the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) viola section and also co-principal post of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and is an alumni of said orchestra. Christopher has also studied conducting from Dr Takashi Ota of Japan and was also a member of KL's Busbar string quartet before moving to Sabah.

Previous post held by Christopher are violin and viola instructor at Chamber's Music Kuala Lumpur, violin and viola instructor at Virtuoso music Kota Kinabalu and also part time tutor at the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Currently, he is the violin and viola instructor of Camerata Music School and is an active freelance performer for various social, public, and private functions. He currently is the violist of KK's outstanding string quartet called Mondays.

Charmaine Ku - Violin and Piano teacher

Charmaine started her formal piano training at the age of 6 with Tan Kim Yoke of Yamaha Music School till she completed all her graded exams, and later on continued her training with Helen Tseu. As for the violin, she started playing the instrument at the age of 15 and was able to obtain one year of formal training with Yap Ling before heading off to further her studies in education and also music, where she began her education courses in Thailand and later on transferred to Australia for her music education.

Charmaine obtained her B.A. in Music in 2007. During her course of study on the violin in Australia, she was training with a distinguish violin teacher, Dr Sohyun Eastham, and then with Dr David Banney who is a re-known conductor, violin and viola instructor.

Moving from place to place, Charmaine have been consistently teaching both the piano and the violin. In Sabah, she had performed with the Kota Kinabalu Symphony Orchestra (KKSO) as the concert mistress, and also with the Virtuoso String Ensemble. She is currently a freelance performer for various social, public, and private functions.

Previous music classroom teaching post held by Charmaine was with the Wells International School in Bangkok. Moved back to Kota Kinabalu on July 2011, she is now teaching at Kinabalu International School as the whole school music teacher, covering Foundation Level through to IGCSE Level. She is also a part-time violin and piano instructor here at Camerata Music School.
